Mamurian Design, Inc. enables single chip H.264 with Beyond BA22 and peripherals
25.10.2008

Ljubljana, Europe - October 25, 2008 - Today, Beyond Semiconductor announced that Mamurian Design, Inc. of Korea has licensed the BA22 processor and peripherals for use in single chip, cost effective H.264 video processors for mobile, internet and security cameras.

Mamurian Design, Inc. offers a family of low cost, low power single chip H.264 sensor processors that enable the entire signal path from camera sensor signals, through signal processing and image compression, to a variety of common interfaces. The Mamurian family of ViDan processors supports sensors up to 1280x1024 at frame rates up to 30fps. Interfaces include USB Device, PCI, SDIO, SPI, I2C, and UART. DMA access is available to the interfaces for fast data transfers without significant processor overhead.

The Mamurian ViDan family of image processors uses Beyond Semiconductor BA22 low power processor IP and peripherals.

"Cost sensitive applications such as consumer video camera image processing require the smallest die size in order to be competitive", said Matjaz Breskvar, CEO at Beyond Semiconductor. "The BA22 and peripherals offer a good fit where power, die size and performance are as important as ease of licensing".

The BA22 32-bit processor offers the highest code density in the industry, as well as extensive power management features, MMU, DSP extensions and a floating point processor option. Based in the open-source Wishbone bus interface, adding peripherals is straightforward. The processor achieves 1.36DMIPs/MHz. Available peripherals include 16550 UART, PCI, Ethernet 10/100/1000, AC97 audio, LCD/VGA controllers as well as DDR and DDR2 memory controllers. All products are available for licensing today.
